HP standardises assessments to improve data centres

HP today has introduced standardised assessments from HP Critical Facilities Services in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region that allow companies to improve efficiency and lower costs, without having to wait for large budget approvals.

“At HP, we believe that even during difficult economic times, intelligent investment is essential,” said Duarte Guerra, Data Center Transformation Solution Architect, HP TSG South Africa. “An inefficient data centre can be a significant drain on company resources, requiring unnecessarily high operating costs. HP’s new suite of standardised assessments provides a framework to increase efficiency and to generate increased economic returns.”

These services now include energy efficiency analysis that helps customers improve the energy efficiency of their data centre. This comprehensive study benchmarks a customer’s data centre against industry best practices for power usage and infrastructure efficiency.

HP's basic capacity survey provides quantitative capacity and availability information to help customers more effectively prioritise and allocate infrastructure resources, while the infrastructure condition and capacity analysis enables customers to improve the reliability of their facility by providing a system-by-system evaluation of their critical technologies.

The comprehensive assessment tool allows customers to optimise data centre cooling to reduce operating costs, boost capacity and improve reliability.
